About

Who's who

Rev Andy Bookless  - Minister and Trustee

Andy was born in India, where his parents were missionaries, and moved to the UK when he was 9.

He worked in the Church in Wales (Anglican) for over 30 years, before sensing towards the end of 2021 that God was calling him to move in a new direction.

Andy believes strongly in a Bible-based and Spirit-led approach to Christian ministry. He has a passion to see people in the community experience God’s saving and healing love and believes that mission should be central to church life. Andy leads the South-West region of New Wine Cymru.

Andy is married to Helen, with two adult sons. He loves birdwatching and Pembrokeshire’s wonderful countryside and is an unashamed Sheffield Wednesday fan

Helen Bookless - Leadership Team

Helen has served in a variety of roles in churches and the community in a voluntary capacity over the years.   Her involvement in church life includes being keyboard player in the worship team, leading a Growth Group and helping with Little Fishes (parents and toddlers group). Having first heard the call of Jesus to follow Him at the age of 9, Helen enjoys adventures with God and people, and in her spare time likes watching films, reading, and tagging along with Andy as a semi-birdwatcher!

I’ve lived in Milford Haven for the last 17 years. I became a born-again believer and follower of Jesus 20 years ago, and it’s my hearts desire to know Him more and to see others come to know Him too, and to see the Body of Christ alive, equipped and glorifying God. I’ve got 2 children, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. I’m semi-retired and have recently started working 2 days a week as a Housekeeper at Bluestone Holiday Resort. In my free time I enjoy reading, walking the coast path and collecting sea-glass.

Lucinda Johnstone - Chair of Trustees

I have known and loved the Lord since becoming a Christian at the age of 16.

Past careers were in fashion, education, and a local council. Through the ups and downs of life, including a long-term illness, Father God has been my strength, hope and healing.

In the churches where I have worshipped, I have been a small group leader, children’s worker, and healing team member. I love God’s word and His Holy Spirit. I firmly believe in the power of prayer and that God desires to heal and to bless.

God brought me to Milford Haven and the church led by Rev. Andy Bookless three years ago.  It is an honour to be one of the trustees for the Church of the Living Hope.

You may also find me at the reception desk of a local vet or out walking with my lovely black Labrador.

Linda Lewis - Trustee and Leadership Team

I was born in Hakin and have lived here all my life.

As a teenager l attended and was confirmed in Hubberston Church. I left church in my late teens to marry and have my children.

In 1990 my family and l returned to church and l became actively involved in church activities. I taught in Sunday School for a number of years. As Tearfund representatives my husband and  I promoted the awareness of Street Children in developing countries. This resulted in a number of children being sponsored for several years within the Parish. I have in the past, held and led a Growth Group in my home.

In January 2022 l was invited to join the Trustees and the Leadership Team for The Church of The Living Hope, where l will continue to serve the community, and give glory to God

Guidance and Oversight

As a new church, we believe it’s important to have some guidance and oversight from others with experience in Christian ministry, including relevant experience of planting churches. Julian Richards and Rob Jones have agreed to give us this. They both have a wealth of experience in supporting and encouraging other churches and their leaders. Here is some info about Julian and Rob :

JULIAN RICHARDS

Julian is the National Leader of New Wine Cymru. In 1991 he founded Cornerstone Church Swansea with his wife Sarah and 5 young people in one of the most deprived areas of the city. Today it is a thriving church known across Wales for its community work, people finding Christ regularly and many physical healings. In 2014 they opened Venue2, a former supermarket, as a second Cornerstone site.

Julian co-founded Gweini (meaning ‘to serve’ in Welsh) the Councill for Christian Community work in Wales, which was established to represent Christian, faith-based community work to the Welsh Assembly Government and wider society.  His passion is to see church leaders equipped and developed, local churches thriving and missionally effective, so that local communities and the nation of Wales would be transformed through the power of Christ and his kingdom.

ROB JONES

Rob was powerfully converted as a teenager following a serious accident and miraculous healing. Rob is based in the Rhondda and supports church plants and churches across Wales, out of his own significant experience of church leadership.. He has a passion for worship and is a Welsh speaker. Rob oversees the 2 NWC Valleys Networks and is Chair of the NWC Board.

And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit,

who has been given to us
