Job Description for Part-time Youth and Children’s Worker (20 hours)
To work alongside Rev Andy Bookless, and the Leadership Team of The Church of The Living Hope, with a specific focus on developing the church’s work and outreach among children and young people and encouraging them in their faith.
To be part of the worshipping congregation of The Church of The Living Hope on a Sunday morning (at least 3 times a month on average) seeking to build relationships with children and young people and their families, and helping to provide activities for them.
To assist with the Little Fishes Parent and Toddler group, including helping to set up for the session and being willing to do the faith-based storytime, when required.
To play a Leading Role within the “Rock Solid” Group for young people (aged 11-16), helping to plan its activities and to work with other team members in providing activities for the young people, and in leading sessions.
To seek to draw together and develop a team of leaders to plan and run a new weekday church group for children of primary school age.
To seek to identify an effective way of encouraging the faith of the older young people within the church e.g. Youth Alpha and to work alongside others in enabling this to happen.
To assist the church in developing more links with children and young people in the wider community and in finding ways to try and involve them in the life and activities of the church.
To take part in regular supervision meetings with Rev Andy Bookless, or another appointed Leadership Team member (initially weekly), for the purposes of planning, talking and praying together about what is being done and offering appropriate support and advice, when needed.
To contribute to Sunday evening services on occasions, as mutually agreed, in order to keep the whole church informed about what the worker is doing with children and young people, and to encourage young people to be involved in this service as opportunities develop.

A godly character (a good role model for children and young people)
A prayerful person - keen to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and God’s Spirit.
The ability to build good relationships with children and young people, to understand their situation and to enable them to grow in faith.
A willingness to be accountable and to work effectively as part of a team.
The willingness and ability to pioneer and take the initiative where necessary.
An understanding of the importance of Safeguarding/working within safe boundaries.
Starting Salary - £13,918 for 20 hours
